Set your time and date

Top Tip Number 01
SET YOUR TIME & DATE:

To plan a Christmas & NYE party, start by checking what’s happening around your preferred date and be flexible. By keeping an eye on social media and speaking to people from your target audience, you can avoid dates when people are booked up. It’s better to change your date at this stage than to clash with another event. Choosing an earlier December date gets you ahead of the game and means you’ll have a broader range of venues to choose from. NYE is probably set in stone since we only have this one night to celebrate the end of the year and the start of a new one, so planning is essential to start NOW for this!

Choose the Venue

CHOOSE THE VENUE:

To plan a Christmas & NYE party you’re going to need a venue! This should be one of the first considerations as you begin planning your Christmas party, as venues will book early. Need a stage for live music? An open space for a dance floor? Perhaps your own home can provide the perfect setting for something a little more intimate. Consider what size space you need. Before you book a venue, you’ll need an estimated guest list to ensure the venue has capacity. You don’t want people to feel squeezed in, or too big a space for the size of your crowd.

Decide on a theme

Top Tip Number 03:
DECIDE ON A THEME

Planning a party? The themes you choose for your events can impact how much fun they are, so it's important to think about what kind of people will be at that particular event. If hosting an adults-only New Year’s Eve celebration with drinks tailored just for them then go ahead and try out some over the top ideas that are both classy and extravagant!

set your budget

Top Tip Number 04:
SET THE BUDGET

Even if your budget is restrictive, it doesn’t mean guests can’t have a great time. First, decide whether you’ll sell tickets to your event to help cover costs. There are so many options to consider when it comes to your next party, but one thing is certain: food and drink will be an important part of the budget. Plated meals can get expensive fast! If you want more people involved in making decisions about what they eat at a buffet or passed appetisers, then try inviting local vendors who sell organic goods from their truck instead. At smaller parties where money may not always permit lavish gestures like hiring chefs. Consider serving alcohol-free wines/ beers.

Top Tip Number 05:
DECIDE ON THE FESTIVE DÉCOR

Decorations add to the event’s ambience and excitement — but they come at a price. Do you want to DIY your décor, hire professionals, or use a combination? If you opt to do it yourself, organise a design committee and involve people in decorating. Use your theme as inspiration for the colours and patterns of your Christmas party decorations. Plan ahead for items that need securing through an events co-ordinator such as large props, lighting and pyrotechnics.
